Maxxis RAZR AT811 Reviews

Maxxis Logo
Showcasing the Maxxis RAZR AT811! A worthy companion to the RAZR MT772. Engineered using the know-how Maxxis has gained from years of research in the off-road and all-terrain tyre markets, the Maxxis RAZR AT811 is cutting edge in every way!

Key Features

  • Blade-shaped tread block design ensures excellent off-road traction and water drainage in wet weather conditions.
  • Aggressive ‘side biter’ lugs assist in providing optimal traction in muddy conditions and protect the sidewall from cuts and punctures.
  • Unique shoulder lug design assists with traction in heavy off-road conditions – especially when being driven at lower inflation pressures.
  • ‘Saw edge’ shoulder blocks enhance traction in harsh off-road conditions.
  • A unique stone-ejecting shoulder groove reduces the possibility of stones lodging between tread blocks and damaging the tyre casing.
  • Dual-layer high tension cap ply ensures excellent cornering ability on and off the road, as well as further improving puncture resistance.
  • The high-strength polyester carcass construction improves cornering ability and ensures optimal puncture resistance.
  • A high elasticity lower sidewall filler compound results in excellent ride comfort – especially on unpaved roads.
  • The 3- ply sidewall construction provides further puncture resistance in off-road conditions.

Wrapped these around 8” wide steelies and put them on the car on the very first day i picked it up from the showroom, did not notice any big changes in road handling compared to the stock HT’s. I’ve read a couple stories about people complaining about the sidewalls of these, but the LT rated ones are very stiff but super comfortable on and off road. They air down nicely, but will need lower pressures then K03’s and duellers.(which I drive for work). On road they are very quiet and well behaved. Even in the wet they give good feedback and on the limits of traction, which are rather high for AT’s, they are very progressive. In the sand and the muddy stuff they really perform great. I had my utes alignment checked and expect they’ll last me a long time. Overall a very comfortable and capable tyre.

Great tyres......in fact the only tyres I've ever bought twice! Got 100,000km out of a set of 5 (5-tyre rotation) over 5 years. Even then the tread depth was still good, but the rubber started to harden about the 4 year mark and wet weather grip dropped off. For the first 4 years I couldn't fault them though, so much so I bought some more. Driving was a mix of solo

Ive been running the Maxxis Razr's now for about 2 years and have done a lot of road kms and a decent amount of off road touring and difficult 4x4 trails with them.Their dry road performance is definitely acceptable, and after 50k kms they still have plenty of meat. However in the wet their age is starting to show, with snap oversteer starting to become an issue. I would still say for the price that I am happy with their road performance, if I wasn't an avid 4x4'r however I would recommend choosing something else. The 4x4 performance is fantastic. I am constantly impressed by these off road and would say they are the best upgrade I've done for this vehicle. They are great on sand when aired down, and perform well in mud and on hilly accents and rocky climbs. Id recommend these to anyone looking for a weekend warrior style set up. Perfect to get you to work and back but still perform on the weekend on trails.

Have run these tyres in all conditions both highway, city, serious offroad and towing an off road camper in all conditions. Have never had an issue in several years and adjust the pressures to suit the conditions.Have found the secret is to rotate the tyres annually to give good even wear and to maintain your wheel alignment and balance - the FJ has both front and rear wheel alignment and I have this checked each year along with balancing.Given current wear I believe I will get at least another 30,000 klm's out of them

I usually run MT but this time thought i would go AT . Have previously had 5 sets of Maxxis MT which were pretty good . These are crap . They don't get driven hard and are 90% worn out after 46 000 km . Absolutely woeful in the wet , lucky I have lockers as they don't inspire confidence off road either . Correct tyre pressures and regular balance , rotation and wheel alignment completed

These tyres were great in the beginning , no road noise at all considering it’s a 50/50 tred mix that’s impressive. But after 60,000 kilometres on them it’s now starting to lose grip in the wet conditions .its like driving on slicks . But the they were great at the start in the wet conditions. So maybe they have just gone hard .

Previously had Cooper Discovey AT3  which I got 85k out of them. Maxxis Razr AT811 are so noisey and tyre wear not great after 40k. Can't believe that sime reviews say thay are a quiet tyre! Would not buy them again or recommend them. Will probably go back to Coopers as much quieter.

On road performance is great. But off road isn't as good. At first they seemed good, went to the high country on around 50K and ended up ripping the tread to pieces and blew one. The tire that blew was quite worn down at that point. Ended up with the other 3 others missing whole lugs

I’ve had these for couple of years and they are great. For tyre threat pattern that is quite an aggressive AT they are not bad in the wet, but in dry and offroad they have been great on sand, gravel, rocks.  Love the aggressive look and they have been fairly quiet for us in the Jeep Commander.  A colleague has couple of those on his Pajero and noticed road noise but that could be noise isolation and maybe are worn unevenly.

Swapped out my stock 17in steel wheels for 16in steel sunnies & the razrs. I noticed was much firmer on bumps straight away. Great tyre from new, I did notice at about 45,000-50,000 the tire changed from being very quiet & grippy to making a bit noisey & noticeably less grip on the wet, I also have pretty bad steering wheel wobble at hwy speed more recently - alignment & balance didn’t fix…Before this change I would say aside from being a bit firmer ride they were a fantastic tyre. I’d say I could get 70,000kms out of this tyre 90% road use. But I would only be happy with them for 45,000kms…

I have really put these through the wringer. They have done around 50k towing a van around Australia with around 20% of those km on gravel roads, and quite a few Km on rough rocky tracks. They have been fantastic with no punctures even though they have done a lot of km on dirt at low pressures, a credit to the strength of the tyre.  There is probably 5000Ks left in them for around town driving, but I would renew them if I was hitting the highway again.I will certainly go for Maxxis again.
