Purpose built tyre which surprises, and surpasses expectations. Initially size required for a little more clearance and strength, MT only choice at time. But this tyre outshone our AT of many KM, such a strong tyre, and learning pressures are so important when towing, off-roading or bitumen. It never ceases to amaze, on or off-road so comfortable as tyre pressures and size allow many variables, whilst tracking true on gravel roads, most circumstances guiding choice for pressure. Corrugations, have become a real shining light as strength, but flexibility allows transitions comfortable, and safe. Experiment, and don’t be afraid to try some unknown PSI especially in sand.

Love the new MT 772, remarkably quiet for a MT tyre. Great tyre off road where in the mud, sand, gravel roads and tracks. Great mud clearance and self cleaning at low speed very impressive. We ran 13 psi on the beach towing a camper trailer, even in the softest sand never looked like getting bogged. Off the beach and back through the swam at the Pennyfather River (Cape York) same tyre pressure, love these tyres. Drove The Overland Telegraph track at 20 psi, awesome trip never even used the winch. 5 weeks in Cape York max. pressure 20 psi, dirt, mud, rocks and sand, these tyre just killed it. Love these tyres!

I've smashed these tires in Shale, Sandstone rocks and ledges, Black clay slippery deep mud, Deserts, Steep mountains and sketchy rivers. They are the best tyres I've ever owned on my 4x4. On the blacktop in the wet, they're like a high-quality road tire. They stop super well and are like glue on the road. Not noisy!

Great off road performance, softer ride on and better u turns on bitumen, great rim protection. Not that noisey, quiet for mud terrain. Great looking side lugs.

I got these tires after the Mickey Thompson all terrains that came with the car wore out, and it was the best tire choice I’ve ever had. So much more control of the car in all conditions, especially really slippery mud that has your car sliding all over the place normally. Will definitely get them again when they wear out (which seems like it’ll be in a while!)

OK, I go on a bit, but stick with me, I’ll get there eventually. Last year, being pretty new to 4wding, I ended on the losing side of a duel with a bog hole on the Andersons Mill track in the Wombat State Forest. At that point I was running Goodyear Wrangler All Terrains in the stock size that came with the Ranger. At pressures of around 30psi, the combination of the tyres, and slippery conditions, resulted in a slow but graceful slide into the bog hole. As many years’ of experience riding mountain bikes off road had taught me, the best bang for buck upgrade you can do is getting better tyres. So, it was time to investigate. Maxxis has a big name mountain bike tyres so I was keen to check what they had. A bit of research showed that the Maxxis RAZR MT came with a high recommendation from Ronny Dahl so I thought I’d give them a go. I also went up a size from the tyres currently on my Ranger. Initial impressions with the tyres were great. They looked awesome. They made a bit of noise as expected but they didn’t create the hum on bitumen that the majority of mud tyres do. The noise level was OK. It was with a bit hesitation that I went off on my first 4wd adventure with the RAZR’s, a loop up to Craig's Hut and back to Mansfield through the Upper King Valley, on the wet opening weekend, November 2019. There were many bog holes and crossings of the King River. To say I was nervous was an understatement. I aired down to 20psi before we hit Stirling Circuit Rd. The circuit road was slippery, but the tyres didn’t miss a beat. Up the last steep pinch to Craig's Hut they were very sure footed. The bog holes and river crossings down through the King River campgrounds were no dramas at all. The climb back up the very muddy King Basin Rd got a bit slippery so I let the RAZRs down to 18psi and that was enough to put us back on the straight and narrow. Since that trip I have done a number of trips in the Vic High Country and the RAZR’s continue to impress. In convoys with other utes they have proven to be top contenders. Some wrong turns have put me in some muddy locations and the RAZRs haven’t let me down, getting me through with a minimum of fuss. I have had the tyres on for about 10,000km now. They’ve had their first rotation and they are showing a little bit of wear, but I am totally OK with this. The grip they offer when it counts off road more than makes up for the wear, and that is where I see the value in these tyres. I am yet to try them in sand but hoping to get to drive the Border Track as soon as the COVID conditions allow. I drive them with a bit of caution on wet bitumen as they are not a road tyre, but in saying that, they haven’t lost traction on wet bitumen yet. I’m really happy with the Maxxis RAZR MTs and will get another pair when this set is done.

Recently just went to Woodgate QLD camping and did a lot of gravel and sand driving. Hard beach to soft track and we never felt the need to even touch Tyre pressure. These tyres have been super reliable and good value. Living out north of Bundy I do a lot of highway km’s and the noise for the tread pattern is really good in my opinion.
